About this project

The guardhouse was already built in a classical style, white columns and a wrought iron arch, so the lamp posts had to sit with that. We went with a twin head lantern in black. Traditional enough to match the arch, plain enough that it does not fight the white render.

Same pole throughout, entrance and internal roads. It is tempting to mix styles on a big site but that is usually what makes a new taman look messy. One fitting down the whole road reads as planned.

Warm white, not daylight. Daylight is the cheaper habit but on white render at night it looks cold, more like a car park than somewhere you live. Warm white keeps the walls soft and the plants looking green, and that is what residents see on the drive home every night.

Bollards came later for the walkways and planting, in the same warm white. Poles light the road, bollards light where people walk. Same colour on both so the eye does not catch a change when you move from one to the other.

It went out in stages across 2023 and 2024, following site progress, and we held the same spec each time so the later stretches match the first. Colour and fitting drift between phases is a common headache on staged projects, and it is avoidable if the supplier keeps the stock consistent. We were still supplying replacements into late 2024, which is usually the real test of whether a supplier stays reachable after the invoice is paid.
